We feel excited here to report on this years' GCSE results, as this is the first year when the traditional GCSE grades A* to G are being phased out and replaced by a numbered grade scale from 9 to 1. Some students achieved satisfying results while some grades may be disappointing

For the first time this year, GCSE results include numbered (1-9) grades instead of the A*-G grades, which may explains why the overall GCSE pass rate in England, Wales and Northern Ireland have dropped 0.6% to 66.3%.

However, Queenswood School located near Hatfield, Hertfordshire, are celebrating tremendous GCSE results- 35% of all grades were A*. With 82% A*-A in English Literature, 71% in Maths and 68% across the Sciences, these results cement Queenswood's reputation as a leading academic school.

Sixth Formers at Queenswood are celebrating another extremely impressive set of A-level and Pre-U results, with 77% A*-B across 25 subjects. One third of its girls taking the exam gained at least 3 A*/A grades, while 100% of results in Modern Languages and History were A*-B, and all candidates in Further Maths gained an A*.

These excellent results have allowed its students secure places on a highly prestigious range of undergraduate courses, including History and Italian at Oxford, Pharmacy at University College London, Law at Durham University, Civil Engineering at Imperial College London, and Art History at St Andrews.

Founded in 1894, Queenswood is a leading independent boarding school in the UK and welcomes girls aged 11-18. The school is set on a beautiful grounds on a 120 acre site. Within the school, there are woodland walks, a huge expanse of lawn, orchards and ornamental gardens, as well as impressive original school buildings.

Queenswood helps to develop girls' talents and strengths through more than 25 academic subjects and over 90 co-curricular activities. An important part of its holistic education is PSHE – Personal, Social, Health Education- learning takes place both inside and outside of the classroom. 'We are committed to delivering a PSHE programme that reaches every girl in the school and encourages them to contribute to the life of the school and wider community.'

Through the PSHE programme, all girls in Years 7-11 receive talks from outside speakers on topics including drugs, alcohol, personal safety, Internet safety, sex and relationships and drink driving.

It's also where the daughter of the Iron Lady Margaret Thatcher was once educated. As Talter Schools Guide puts it, it is 'A girls' boarding school with everything a girl- and her parents- could want'.
