Entry exam arrangement

The entry exam of top UK schools starts at an early stage, some of which even start at Grade 6. And the time of the exam varies for each school. If the student is based in China, then he or she may have to take several flights to the UK to sit different examinations. So studying in a UK school could save the pupil from this trouble.

Taking Horris Hill School as an example, there are about 5-6 pupils who want to apply to Eton College this academic year. The School would make arrangements for them: organize them to sit the entrance examinations at specific House, guide them to meet with the admission officer. Besides, the Headmaster will coach them for the interview.

What’s more, the entrance exam site of Harrow School is located within the Horris Hill School. And Harrow, upon request, could access the materials of the applicant from Horris Hill. The whole process is concise and efficient, of which H is one of the beneficiaries.

A scientific evaluation of the pupil

Unlike primary schools in China, there are much fewer pupils in UK boarding schools. Therefore, the headmaster knows well about each of its pupils. A regular report is given, which describes the pupil’s strength and weakness, and makes a scientific assessment on the pupil’s ability. The School will also present their opinions as to their confidence in the pupil’s successful application to his or her target schools.

While studying in the UK, it is vitally important to keep the communication between the teacher and the headmaster. The school need to know the pupils’ needs, as well as the parents’ expectations in them. Whilst the school makes an assessment on its pupils, no academic assistance would be offered for your children unless you ask them to do so.

Read as much as you can

When applying to UK schools, one question frequently asked by the admission officer is “what books have you been reading lately?” British schools lay great emphasis on reading. For instance, pupils who have achieved a certain reading amount at the Aldro Prep School are awarded a medal by the School. In Britain, reading is considered as an honorable and cool thing.

This is also true in Horris Hill School. The good academic atmosphere and tranquil environment there offer the exact soil for the thriving and flourishing of H who loves reading very much. Thanks to his extensive reading, H excels in History and Religion Studies.

Apart from all above, the biggest change that could take place in your child while studying in the UK is that it enables the child to know what’s his true calling and how to make progress to achieve, as a result of which, it enhances the child’s independency and self-consciousness. This is what the best education could possibly offer.
