Successful Case: Elian Got Accepted to MIT

Added on: 2017-07-24Share on :

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is a highly selective university known for its low admission rate. The admission rate this year is only 7.8%. Elian, our BE student, is among these lucky dogs and has been accepted to MIT (REA) with the help of Anthony, our senior US consultant. Today, let’s see what exactly sets him apart from other exceptional applicants.

Student Basic Info

Name: Elian

SAT: 2330

SATII: 2370

Offers: MIT (REA)

Activities: House Captain; Winger in rugby; Maths mentor; Research Assistant; Boarding house representative; Senior track and field hurdler; Organiser of volunteer program; Standford Pre-collegeiate Summer Institute; Independent Spanish course

Highlights: His research experience where he was able to assist with and contribute directly to research shows initiative and an ability to undertake serious university-level research. Equally his role as Maths Mentor for his school shows his kindness and ability to think of and support others.

Challenges: Showing in-depth subject knowledge and suitability for the course as well as ensuring he stood out from the crowd in a top British school with other exceptional applicants.

Learning objectives: Whilst academic qualifiers are important, genuine interest in a subject backed up with relevant research experience and personal character essays are equally as important. Even as an engineer for MIT, applicants recognize the need for more than test scores.

Student Feedback: “I got into MIT! Can’t thank you enough for all your work with the essays, it helped enormously! Still can’t believe I was accepted to be honest. Thank you again! Yours sincerely, Elian”
