Wycombe Abbey School Summer Course is designed for teenagers aged 12-17. Based on different needs and English levels, it has two optional training camps for students to choose form, Young Global Leader & Intensive Academics & General English and Extracurricular Learning.

Course details

Young Global Leader & Intensive Academics Camp

A platform that allows students across the world to communicate and collaborate with each other. Students of different origins are able to freely express their own thoughts and opinions on hot topics covering politics, economics and culture. Intensive Academics is designed to strengthen students’ academic ability as well confidence and leadership, and to improve their verbal and written communication skills.

General English & Extracurricular Learning Camp

Small-class grouping ensures students can develop their individuality to the greatest extent. It helps improve the student’s overall English level and strengthen their pure British pronunciation.

  • General English

    15 hours a week. Students are going to learn English under a given context. The subjects are decided based on syllabus, mainly including countries and regions across the world; entertainment project; house and home; myths and legends; science, nature and technology; the past and the future.

  • Intensive Academics

    This programme comprises intensive teaching of three core subjects, namely maths, English and science, which will be conducted by professionals in the subject areas. The programme integrates functionality, interactivity and emphasis on learning through collaboration. Through a series of mock interviews, students may also enhance their confidence and overall competitiveness for admission tests and interviews to English boarding schools or other schools at home and abroad.

  • Debating and Critical Thinking

    Debating and Critical Thinking

    Students from different countries and with different complexions attend the programme. These students will be divided into groups. Drawing on their knowledge acquisition and eloquence, they, as a team, express their thoughts and points despite perhaps holding different ones, and share their unique experiences in an international atmosphere. The programme explains teamwork and gives a culture shock to students from different cultures and backgrounds, helping them to foster a wider perspective.

  • Extracurricular Learning

    Extracurricular Learning

    Six hours a week, consisting of various activities such as press interview, creative writing, art handwork, digital image, cooking, etc. Students need to submit a piece of performance work in order to complete the programme. Another six hours are reserved for various sporting activities.
