Millfield School has its reputation as the best sporting school in Britain. Since 1956, it has been represented at every Olympic games and has altogether cultivated 68 Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

Millfield has been represented at every Olympic games since 1956. In total it has produced 54 athletes representing England at the Olympics, including Mark Foster with six World Championship titles, two Commonwealth titles and eleven European titles; Duncun Goodhew, Olympic gold and bronze medals winner; Helen Glover, the number 1 female rower in the world since 2015. Millfield School is acclaimed as the "cradle of Olympic athletes".
The School's success in sport is heavily dependent on its outstanding sport facilities. Millfield has world-class facilities, perhaps the best in the UK, so it is the host of many national and international championships. In May of 2017, equestrians from all over the country gathered at Millfield Prep for the third annual Millfield BE Horse Trials which was attended by 2,000 people. Another example. Before the London Olympics, the Russian swimming team used the School's swimming pool as its training base.
