Normally, to apply for British secondary school, the applicant needs to make 1-year preparation. This is especially so for leading schools. However, Dave’s story we’re going to share is totally different. He nearly missed all right timing, yet he got an offer letter from Radley College within two months. What made this possible was a recruitment activity of Radley in China.
Got the Offer From Radley College in Only Two Months!
When Dave came to BE, it was already March in 2016. He was 16 years old then, so he could only apply for British high schools and enter schools in September of the same year, it was impossible for him to wait for another year to attend the entrance exam in 2017. By then, the students who had gone through the traditional application process had already got the offer to enter school in September 2016. Dave was one year later than them.
At that time, most British high schools had closed application, and Dave was about to miss the opportunity to enter school in 2016.
Dave was lucky. He was just in time for Radley’s admission interview in March 2016, which was organized exclusively by BE Education. He met admission officers Harry Hammond and Vanessa Hammond. In this interview, he had left a very deep impression on them.
Full title of the event: International Education / Family Inheritance Forum 2016—— Radley College’s visit to China Event. This event was one of the admission events of ALIS.
Dave’s consultant Sandy grasped the opportunity and told admission officer that Dave really wanted to study in their school. Dave’s performance in the interview was quite good, so the admission officers finally gave Dave a valuable chance to attend the entrance exam at Radley.
Radley College arranged the exam in May, and Dave only had a month left to prepare. In this one month, Dave and BE teachers had created another miracle, he worked really hard in BE and made up his knowledge points under such a tight timetable.
In the same time, BE Education had arranged a special teacher Felix, who graduated from Radley College. He provided useful advices on question types and interview techniques of Radley College’s exam.
A month later, Dave passed the exam, and he needed to go to the UK for an interview.
At that time, Dave did not even prepare his Visa. Sandy had got everything ready for him in a very short period of time, and finally managed to send Dave for the decisive interview.
The interviewing officers were dorm supervisors (Dons). They not only supervise students’ daily life, but also manage their academic performance. The interview question was also interesting: do you think math is more like a language, arts or science?
This was an open question with no standard answer, aiming to test students’ thinking pattern and reaction capacity. In the application process of top-notch schools, these inspirational questions are frequently asked.
On the second day after the interview, the school informed Dave that he had been granted an offer to Radley College.
If we use one word to describe Dave’s application, it was “close”. Dave got a valuable opportunity in Radley College’s admission interview event and this happy ending was due to concerted efforts made by Dave and BE.
It is a miracle, literally!
